WHEELING – Yogi Berra never played a football game in his life, but his message still resonates throughout sports: “It’s never over til it’s over.” This sentiment was on full display Saturday night as West Virginia staged a remarkable comeback to secure a thrilling 15-14 victory against Ohio in the 79th OVAC Rudy Mumley All-Star Football Game held at Wheeling Island.
The game looked bleak for West Virginia as they trailed late in the fourth quarter. However, a dynamic connection between quarterback Lucas McAllister and wide receiver Damir Mowder proved to be the turning point. With time running out, McAllister delivered a perfectly timed pass to Mowder, who made a spectacular catch in the end zone, igniting the West Virginia sidelines and fans alike.
The victory not only showcased the talent of the players but also highlighted the resilience and determination of the West Virginia team. This unforgettable win will surely be remembered by players and fans for years to come.
