The Denver Broncos have officially begun the annual roster reduction, moving from the 90-man offseason limit down to the mandatory 53-player regular season roster. Over the next few days, the front office will make a series of difficult decisions, including outright releases, waiver claims, and potential trades. This page will be updated continuously as each move becomes official, so check back often for the latest news out of Dove Valley.
The first wave of cuts typically targets players on the fringe, including undrafted rookies and veteran camp bodies who did not separate themselves during preseason action. However, the more significant moves involve battles at key positions like offensive line, cornerback, and wide receiver. Denver's coaching staff has hinted at keeping extra depth at certain spots, which means a surprise cut or two could happen elsewhere.
Beyond the initial 53, the Broncos will immediately begin assembling a 16-man practice squad. Players who clear waivers become eligible to sign with the team's developmental unit. Expect several of the final cuts to return in that capacity, provided they do not get claimed by another club. The team also has a few players on the physically unable to perform list, which could open temporary roster spots.
Keep this page bookmarked. We will list every transaction, from the first veteran release to the final practice squad addition, as the Broncos finalize their roster ahead of Week 1.
