The Green Bay Packers have not yet played a down in the 2025 season, but that has not stopped the front office from dropping hints about the shape of things to come. Based on recent comments from general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur, the 2026 offense is already taking form in the minds of the decision-makers. The tea leaves suggest a shift toward a more explosive, vertical passing game that leans heavily on the arm of Jordan Love.
Gutekunst has been clear that the team wants to add more speed at the wide receiver position. The current group has talent, but it lacks a true burner who can stretch the field vertically. The 2026 draft class is expected to be deep at receiver, and the Packers hold multiple picks in the early rounds. It would not be a surprise to see them invest heavily in a player who can run past NFL secondaries.
LaFleur has also hinted at a more aggressive approach in the red zone. The offense stalled too often inside the 20-yard line in 2024, and the coaching staff wants to fix that by adding a bigger, more physical target. That could mean a tight end who can win in contested catch situations, or a running back who is a weapon in the screen game.
The offensive line is another area of focus. The Packers have built a reputation for developing linemen, but the unit is getting older. By 2026, the team will likely need a new left tackle and possibly a new center. Gutekunst has emphasized the importance of protecting Love, and the draft board will reflect that priority.
Of course, all of this is speculation based on a few press conferences and some off-season chatter. But the direction is clear. The Packers are not content to just be good. They want to build an offense that can win in January. And the moves they make in 2025 will set the stage for that 2026 vision.
