Rangers' Nimmo leaves game against Diamondbacks with apparent ankle injury

Texas Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo was forced to leave Tuesday night's matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks during the sixth inning after suffering what appeared to be a left ankle injury. The incident occurred as Nimmo sprinted to first base on an infield single. His left foot made contact with the edge of first baseman Ildemaro Vargas' foot, causing Nimmo to come up limping immediately after crossing the bag.

Before exiting, Nimmo had been having a strong night at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a triple. The Rangers held a commanding 7-1 lead over the Diamondbacks at the time of the injury. The team has not yet released an official update on the severity of the issue or whether Nimmo will miss additional time. The outfielder was seen being evaluated by trainers in the dugout before heading to the clubhouse. Fans and teammates alike will be watching closely for further word on his status as the Rangers continue their series.
