Justin Watson Joins Chiefs Practice Squad

Kansas City has added another familiar face to its practice squad. Justin Watson is signing with the Chiefs, returning to the organization after spending time with the team in previous seasons.

Watson, a veteran wide receiver, originally entered the league as a fifth round pick. He built a reputation as a reliable depth option who can contribute on special teams and step into the offense when called upon. His experience with the Chiefs system gives him an advantage over outside additions, since he already understands the playbook and the expectations of the coaching staff.

The move gives Kansas City extra insurance at the receiver position. Practice squad spots often serve as a pipeline for game day elevations, and Watson fits that role well. He has shown he can make contested catches and handle assignments without drawing attention for mistakes.

For Watson, the opportunity is straightforward. He gets another chance to compete in a winning environment and prove he belongs on the active roster. For the Chiefs, the signing costs little and adds a trusted name to the depth chart. Both sides benefit from a reunion that could pay off later in the season if injuries create an opening.
