Brewers' Offensive Firepower Leads to 9-5 Win Over Cubs

The Milwaukee Brewers leaned on their offensive depth to outslug the Chicago Cubs, taking a 9-5 win despite a shaky start from rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski. The young pitcher struggled with his command early, allowing five runs over just three and two-thirds innings, but the lineup responded each time Chicago threatened to pull away.

Milwaukee jumped ahead in the first inning when William Contreras doubled home a pair of runs. The Cubs answered in the second, but the Brewers kept the pressure on with a three-run fourth that chased Cubs starter Jameson Taillon from the game. Brice Turang and Sal Frelick each collected two hits, while Willy Adames drove in three runs with a bases-clearing double in the sixth that broke the game open.

The bullpen held firm after Misiorowski exited. Hoby Milner, Bryan Hudson, and Trevor Megill combined for five and a third scoreless innings, striking out seven and allowing just two hits. Megill worked a clean ninth to secure the save.

The win keeps Milwaukee atop the National League Central, extending their lead to four games over the Cubs. Chicago managed to keep it close early, with Dansby Swanson and Cody Bellinger both homering, but the Brewers' relentless approach at the plate proved too much. The two teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon, with Milwaukee looking to complete a series sweep.
