Belmont Stakes 2026 list of horses, odds and post positions

Belmont Stakes 2026 list of horses, odds and post positions

The final leg of the Triple Crown is set, with nine horses officially entered for the 158th running of the Belmont Stakes. This year's field is smaller than usual, but it packs a punch with a mix of seasoned veterans and fresh contenders looking to steal the spotlight on the long, demanding track.

Post positions were drawn earlier this week, and the morning line odds are already shifting as bettors size up the competition. The favorite coming into the race is a familiar name from the Kentucky Derby trail, though he stumbled at Churchill Downs. He drew the number four post, a position that has historically produced a fair share of winners. His early odds sit at 5-2, but insiders expect that number to drop as race day approaches.

Another horse drawing attention is a late bloomer who skipped the Preakness. He landed the outside post at number nine, which could be an advantage given his closing style. His odds opened at 6-1. The rest of the field includes a pair of horses who ran in the Preakness, one of whom finished second and is looking for redemption at 4-1 odds.

The full lineup is as follows, with post position, horse name, and morning line odds:

1. Tidal Wave - 15-1
2. Iron Fortress - 8-1
3. Golden Hour - 12-1
4. Midnight Thunder - 5-2
5. Bluegrass King - 10-1
6. Silent Storm - 20-1
7. Rebel Road - 4-1
8. Coastal Run - 7-2
9. Longshot Legend - 6-1

Post time is set for 6:50 PM Eastern. The weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and a fast track, which should favor speedsters but still leave the door open for closers. With no Triple Crown on the line this year, the race is wide open, and the mile-and-a-half distance will test every horse's stamina to the limit.
