The Houston Astros and Cincinnati Reds are back at it today for the second game of their three-game series in Cincinnati. First pitch is set for 3:10 p.m. CT at Great American Ball Park.
Houston comes into this one with a 16-23 record, still trying to find some consistency after a rough start to the season. The Reds are sitting at 20-19, hovering around the .500 mark and looking to build some momentum in the early part of May.
On the mound for the Astros is right-hander Spencer Arrighetti, who has been one of the few bright spots for Houston so far. He is 4-0 with a sparkling 1.96 ERA and will be looking for his fifth straight winning decision. Arrighetti has been sharp all year, keeping hitters off balance and giving the Astros a chance to win nearly every time he takes the ball.
The Reds will counter with their own starter, hoping to cool off Arrighetti and even up the series after whatever happened in the opener. Cincinnati has been competitive in the early going, and a win today would push them back over .500.
Both teams have plenty to play for as the season moves toward the summer months. The Astros need to start stacking wins if they want to climb back into the race, while the Reds are trying to prove they can hang in a tough division. Expect a tight ballgame this afternoon in Cincinnati.
