Altuve Keeps Building on a Storied Astros Run

Jose Altuve turned 36 this year, and the milestone did little to slow him down. The Houston second baseman put together another productive season at the plate, steadying a lineup that leaned on his experience more than ever. His bat stayed quick, his approach stayed disciplined, and his presence in the clubhouse remained one of the quiet constants of the franchise.

Along the way, Altuve moved within one home run of the all-time postseason record. That number matters because it captures what has defined his career: a player who shows up in the biggest moments and keeps producing when the stakes are highest. Few players in the modern game have matched his combination of longevity and October output.

The season also added to a resume that already places him among the most decorated players in Astros history. He has been part of championship runs, endured rebuilds, and watched teammates come and go while his own standard never slipped. At an age when many players begin to fade, he remains a central figure rather than a supporting one.

For Houston, the value goes beyond statistics. Altuve represents continuity, a link between the franchise's past and its present ambitions. As long as he is in the lineup, the Astros have a proven answer at the top of the order and a reminder of how sustained excellence is built, one season and one swing at a time.
